Peer Review Process
Tamsil: Journal of Islamic Studies applies a Double-Blind Peer Review system to ensure an objective and rigorous evaluation of submitted manuscripts.
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to determine its suitability for the journal's focus and scope, compliance with author guidelines, originality, and basic academic quality.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to qualified reviewers with relevant expertise. During the review process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are kept confidential.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on several criteria, including:
-
Relevance to the journal's focus and scope;
-
Originality and significance of the contribution;
-
Clarity of research objectives and research questions;
-
Appropriateness of theoretical and methodological approaches;
-
Quality and validity of data and analysis;
-
Coherence of discussion and interpretation;
-
Contribution to Islamic Studies;
-
Quality of references and scholarly engagement; and
-
Clarity and quality of academic writing.
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editor may decide to:
-
Accept the manuscript;
-
Accept subject to minor revisions;
-
Revise and resubmit subject to major revisions; or
-
Reject the manuscript.
Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts in response to reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
The final publication decision rests with the Editor in Chief and is based on the scholarly evaluation of the manuscript and the recommendations of the reviewers.
The normal review process is expected to take approximately 4–8 weeks, although the actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability and the complexity of the manuscript.
