Focus and Scope

SUBA: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (SUBA: Journal of Community Engagement) is a multidisciplinary journal that publishes articles on community engagement, empowerment, and development based on academic knowledge, local potential, community needs, and Islamic values. As a journal published by Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) IAIN Ternate, SUBA particularly welcomes community engagement initiatives that address the unique characteristics, potentials, challenges, and development needs of island and coastal communities.

The journal provides a platform for disseminating innovative, participatory, contextual, and sustainable community engagement practices that contribute to improving community capacity, independence, welfare, and quality of life. SUBA also encourages community engagement activities that integrate Islamic values, local wisdom, indigenous knowledge, and scientific and technological development.

The scope of SUBA includes, but is not limited to:

1. Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Kepulauan dan Pesisir
   Community empowerment in island and coastal areas, including the development of local potential, strengthening community capacity, poverty reduction, livelihood development, and improving community welfare.
2. Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Berbasis Keislaman
   Community empowerment based on Islamic values, Islamic teachings, religious moderation, and integration of Islamic knowledge with community development.
3. Pengembangan Masyarakat Kepulauan
   Community development addressing the geographical, social, economic, cultural, educational, and infrastructural characteristics of island communities.
4. Pendidikan dan Pendidikan Islam
   Community engagement in education, Islamic education, literacy, non-formal education, teacher development, and strengthening educational capacity in communities, particularly in remote and island areas.
5. Sosial dan Keagamaan
   Community engagement related to religious life, social development, religious moderation, interfaith relations, and strengthening religious and social institutions.
6. Ekonomi, UMKM, dan Kewirausahaan Masyarakat
   Economic empowerment, development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), entrepreneurship, creative economy, financial literacy, and community-based economic development.
7. Pengembangan Potensi Sumber Daya Laut dan Pesisir
   Sustainable utilization of marine and coastal resources, fisheries, marine-based livelihoods, aquaculture, and community-based coastal resource management.
8. Kearifan Lokal, Budaya, dan Identitas Masyarakat Kepulauan
   Preservation and development of local wisdom, traditional knowledge, cultural heritage, indigenous practices, and cultural identity of island and coastal communities.
9. Literasi Digital dan Teknologi untuk Masyarakat
   Digital literacy, information technology, appropriate technology, digital transformation, and technological innovation for community empowerment.
10. Lingkungan dan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan
    Environmental conservation, climate resilience, waste management, sustainable development, and community participation in protecting island and coastal ecosystems.
11. Kesehatan dan Kesejahteraan Masyarakat
    Community health, public health education, nutrition, sanitation, healthy living, and other initiatives aimed at improving community welfare.
12. Penguatan Kelembagaan dan Kemitraan Masyarakat
    Strengthening community organizations, village institutions, religious institutions, local government, educational institutions, and partnerships between universities and communities.
13. Pemberdayaan Perempuan, Anak, dan Kelompok Rentan
    Community engagement programs aimed at strengthening the capacity, independence, protection, and welfare of women, children, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
14. Pengembangan Desa dan Wilayah Terpencil
    Community-based development in rural, remote, border, outermost, and geographically isolated areas.
15. Inovasi dan Model Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat
    Innovative models, strategies, methodologies, and best practices in community engagement that can be replicated or adapted in different community contexts.
